I have been in the Fire Service for nearly 2 decades at this point in my career. As an officer that tries to be as valuable to my department as possible, I have endeavored to continue my education in all fields related to our industry. In the last two years, I’ve utilized Public Safety Training and Development to complete coursework towards Inspector I and II, Instructor II, and Fire Officer III. The presentation of materials, the assistance I have received from the PSTD staff, particularly Lead Instructor Matt Trent, has been second to none. I’ve been challenged in each and every course I have taken, and learned much more than I expected BECAUSE I have been challenged.
Be advised, this is NOT a “Rubber Stamp Academy”. You will have to put in effort, do research, and actually produce results in these courses to pass, but if you are truly serious about learning as a Firefighter or Fire Officer, this is probably one of the best options out there for personal and career development.
